Centennial College's Tourism diploma program will prepare you for an industry that Tourism HR Canada projects will grow to 2.1 million jobs, exposing a labour and skills shortage in more than 400 types of tourism industry jobs and careers, including accommodation, food and beverage, transportation, entertainment and travel services.  
The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario data shows that in 2019 Tourism in Ontario was a $36 billion a year industry, with more than 200,000 businesses and 400,000 employees.  Now recovering from the impact of Covid-19, Tourism and Hospitality is once again one of the fastest growing global industries which means opportunity for tourism graduates.  In fact, tourism employs 1 in 10 people and generates 10 per cent of global gross domestic product. 
Study will combine a well-rounded academic curriculum with hands-on experiential learning, culminating in a 14-week work-integrated learning experience. Content is inspired by the input of industry leaders, bringing together the knowledge and skills required to thrive in both the inbound and outbound parts of the tourism industry.   
You'll also graduate job-ready with industry certifications such as Smart Serve, Safe Food Handlers, CPR, Travel Insurance, Cruise Industry and TICO Travel Counsellor Certification. 
After graduating with your Tourism diploma, you'll be ready to embark on unlimited career opportunities or you may seamlessly transition into Centennial's iconic three-year Hospitality and Tourism advanced diploma program.

Program Vocational Learning Outcomes

Program Vocational Learning Outcomes describe what graduates of the program have demonstrated they can do with the knowledge and skills they have achieved during their studies. The outcomes are closely tied to the needs of the workplace. Through assessment (e.g., assignments and tests), students verify their ability to reliably perform these outcomes before graduating.

  1. Support an industry and workplace service culture by adopting a positive attitude and professional decorum, accommodating diverse and special needs, and contributing as a team member.  
  2. Deliver customer service and solutions that anticipate, meet and/or exceed individual expectations, as well as travel service providers’ organizational expectations, standards and objectives.  
  3. Use marketing concepts, market research, social networks, sales strategies, relationship management skills and product knowledge to promote and sell tourism and travel products, services and guest experiences.  
  4. Apply business principles as well as basic accounting, budgeting, financial and administration skills to support the effective management and operation of a variety of organizations delivering tourism products and services.  
  5. Comply with relevant organization and workplace systems, processes, policies, standards, legal obligations and regulations, and apply risk management principles, to support and maintain efficient, safe, secure, accessible and healthy tourism and travel operations.
