Description
The new European BSc Physics programme was taught for the first time in the academic year 2009-2010 at USAL, after passing the verification process, and it replaced the previous five-year BSc in Physics. This degree renewed its accreditation in 2015 and 2021.
“The new dimension of your future”
Both as a basic scientific study and an applied discipline, Physics is the paradigm of what we call Science nowadays, and one of the pillars of technology.
According to current studies, Physicists’ most valued professional asset is their versatility. Therefore, this Bachelor of Science degree in Physics has been designed with a clear objective: training professionals with a great capacity for the analysis and modelling of complex situations and with a high ability to solve different types of problems.
To achieve this, the student must pass 240 ECTS credits distributed in four academic years. The first year of this new European degree has been designed very carefully so that students mature and homogenize the knowledge they acquired in their previous educational stage. There is also a module on Physics Laboratory that provides them with a global vision of all the areas of Physics from an experimental perspective.
Once basic general training has been gained, in the following years students will learn in deep detail about the different fields that make up this science: Electromagnetism, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Optics, Electronics, etc. In the second quarter of the last year, students can choose among several optional modules that allow them to specialize in their desired fields. This programme also offers students the possibility of completing their training with internships at external companies or institutions. Additionally, the Faculty of Science offers a number of student exchange programmes with other universities in Spain and abroad.
The aim of the Degree in Physics is to provide students with a general education in Physics as a scientific discipline, aimed at preparing them for professional activities, with the ability to apply the acquired skills in different areas, including teaching and research in Physics, as well as its applications in industry, business and administration. These courses also prepare students for more specialised training (Master's degree).
Requirement
The Degree in Physics is designed to welcome students with the capacity for analysis and synthesis in order to abstract the structural properties of physical reality, in addition to the essential work habit, dedication to study and a love for Physics.
In line with the above, the degree is recommended for people who, having passed the Baccalaureate by taking the subjects of Physics and Mathematics II as their options, have chosen the Degree in Physics as their first or second option when pre-registering at the University of Salamanca.
Recommended subjects
Physics
Mathematics II
To enroll in this Degree, there are no special conditions or tests other than the general ones established by the basic state regulations.
