Description
It is an “institutional double degree program”, regulated by the Regulations on Double Degrees and Simultaneous Official Teachings of the USAL (Governing Council of 29/2/2012 and Permanent Commission of the Governing Council of 17/10/2017), it was approved by the Governing Council of the USAL on 03/22/2019 and is implemented in the 2019-20 academic year.
This double degree comes from the Degree in Physics and the Degree in Mathematics and works as a specific study plan (with a specific pre-registration code and a specific number of places offered annually, 10), consisting of a total of 360 ECTS distributed over 5 academic years, 10 semesters, at a rate of 72 ECTS in each and every semester.
The Curriculum Prepared for the Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics has 360 ECTS credits and is established through an itinerary composed of basic and compulsory subjects of both degrees, which the student must take and which add up to 276 credits; 54 optional ECTS corresponding to the Degree in Mathematics; 6 ECTS of the Final Degree Project in Physics and 24 ECTS of the Final Degree Project in Mathematics.
Students of the Double Degree will join the teaching groups of the respective Degrees. A distribution of theoretical classes, seminars and practical classes will be made that makes it possible to take the teaching corresponding to each academic year. The student will have to register for subjects from both degrees. An itinerary or set of subjects will be offered for which time compatibility is guaranteed, without prejudice to the timetables offered for the Degree in Physics and the Degree in Mathematics. Taking into account the above, the design that guarantees time compatibility is the following:
Students enrolled in the Double Degree will be assigned to a specific group from those existing in each of the degrees.
For practical classes, students will be assigned to a group appropriate to their schedule, from among those existing in each grade.
Furthermore, an assessment calendar adapted to the needs of the Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics, the Degree in Physics and the Degree in Mathematics will be developed.
Double Degree students who wish to study at a foreign university through an academic exchange must link their mobility to one of the Degrees that make up this institutional programme. This choice will determine the academic year, the subjects and the number of credits that can be requested as recognition of the subjects that have been passed at the host university. This procedure is regulated by the Complementary Regulations to the General Regulations on International Student Mobility of the Faculty to which the mobility is linked.
The administrative management of the Double Degree will be the responsibility of the Faculty of Sciences: registration (at the center or self-registration), recognition of ECTS, supporting documentation for registration exemptions (e.g. scholarships, large family).
Abandonment of the double degree
1. In the event that a student who has been admitted to the double degree wishes to leave it to continue studies in only one of them, he/she must apply to the Center where he/she registered before July 31 of the previous academic year.
2. To be admitted to one of the two degrees, the student's university entrance qualification must be equal to or higher than the minimum admission grade in the corresponding academic year for the destination degree, that is, the one in which he or she will begin studies outside of the double degree.
Requirement
A copy of your High School Diploma (O LEVEL & A LEVEL) e.g (WAEC, NECO, SAT, KCSE, ZIMSEC, GCE)
A copy of your International passport Bio-data page.
A copy of your recent Passport Photo.
A valid copy of your Result Checker Card.
All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of five (5) credits, in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC, NECO, SAT, KCSE, ZIMSEC, GCE).
Student access : The access modalities provided for the Double Degree are new admission and continuity of studies.
New Enrollment : The first year of implementation, a number of 10 new students is proposed for the Double Degree, a number that will be reviewed annually. In accordance with USAL regulations on double degrees, the number of students accessing the Degree in Physics and the Degree in Mathematics is reduced by 5 students each. If the maximum number of places for the Double Degree is not filled, the remaining places will be distributed between the two Degrees and will be included in the general offer. In the admission process, the weighting criteria for high school subjects for access to the University will be applied, which are the same for both degrees.
Continuation of studies : Applications for admission of students to continue university studies include three situations:
Applications for a place from students with partial Spanish university studies completed at our university and who are recognized for a minimum of 30 ECTS credits.
Applications for places from students with partial Spanish university studies from another university and/or official Spanish university studies and who are recognized for a minimum of 30 credits.
Applications for places from students with partial or complete foreign university studies who have not obtained recognition of their degree in Spain and who are recognized as having a minimum of 30 credits.
In any of these three situations, it will be an essential requirement that the student has a university entrance grade equal to or higher than the cut-off grade for new students entering the double degree in the academic year in which the application to continue studies in the double degree is submitted.
Access routes to Double Degree courses: these are officially recognised and regulated by law for official degree courses (RD 412/2014). Foreign students may enroll in the Double Degree course in accordance with the provisions of Spanish university regulations in general and those of the University of Salamanca in particular. On the other hand, it will be necessary to have obtained a place through the university pre-registration process.
Admission: There is no specific test for access to this Double Degree. Places within the 10-student quota will be assigned and allocated based on the admission grade.
Registration: The minimum number of ECTS credits per student and academic period is 60, meaning that it can only be taken in the full-time modality . The maximum number of European credits per student and academic period is 90 ECTS, allowing students to register for more credits than those scheduled per course. In any case, this maximum limit and other rights affecting registration will be determined by the USAL Regulations on Permanence and the Regulations on Double Degrees and Simultaneity.
