Description
Engage with the scientific and engineering aspects of materials on this three-year course, which includes two modules completed with Imperial College Business School. Many of the technological advances that have transformed our lives are founded in materials science and engineering (MSE). From clothes, phones, and computers to life-changing technologies like biomedical devices or satellite communications, manufactured items shape our lives in a range of areas. Throughout this course, you'll learn how the motivation to invent or improve materials is helping solve real problems in fields such as healthcare, energy, and transport. Analyze how technological advances are opening up new opportunities in areas such as biomedical engineering, 3D printing, robotics, and quantum computing. The program considers the processing, structure, properties, and performance of materials with an emphasis on experimental work. A series of laboratory tutorials will introduce foundational ideas and advance your practical skills as you learn to apply scientific and mathematical reasoning effectively. As the course progresses, you'll have the opportunity to design your experiments to test a hypothesis and investigate materials using electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. This year will enhance your understanding of the management environment of business organizations and prepare you for leadership roles.
