  6. The master’s program in Art Studies is taught in German. Applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate must demonstrate German language proficiency at a specific level as a prerequisite for admission. Language skills required include: a modern Germanic, Romance, Slavic, Finno-Ugrian, or Turkish foreign language at CEFR level B1 and an additional Germanic, Romance, Slavic, Finno-Ugrian, or Turkish foreign language at CEFR level B2 or Latin skills equivalent to the Latinum. English skills are useful but not mandatory for admission.

Structure

The Art Studies master’s program at TU Berlin comprises a compulsory component (42 credit points), compulsory elective component (42 credit points), and elective component (15 credit points). Choose between specializations in art technology or museum studies within the compulsory elective component. The program culminates in a master’s thesis (30 credit points).

Refer to the proposed course schedule for guidance on module sequencing and completion within the standard study period of four semesters. While the schedule offers a recommended path, it is not obligatory and serves as a flexible framework for structuring your studies.

Fees

TU Berlin semester/student fee - the fee is around € 310  and includes public transport in Berlin. The fees do not include such expenses as books, the compulsory German language course (approx. € 100 per semester), stationery, meals, healthcare insurance, visa and accommodation. In case that a field trip should be taking place during the second semester, this will require an own share of a maximum € 200 per student.
