Description

The Degree in Environmental Sciences is a course with a marked multidisciplinary content, providing the appropriate training to address environmental problems from various fields of knowledge. Future graduates must have knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of Natural and Social Sciences, as well as the necessary tools to apply this knowledge to practice.

This knowledge requires the participation of many different disciplines in the composition of the subjects. Just as strategies towards sustainability imply options where the environmental, social, and economic spheres coexist, Environmental Sciences have the scope of study at the intersection of knowledge about the physical and biological environment, the business and technological environment, and the social and macroeconomic environment.

These studies serve the purpose of creating experts in the knowledge of the relationships between human activities and the physical and biological environment, in their socio-economic implications, and in technological applications for the prevention and correction of environmental problems. Environmental scientists must have the ability to commission, carry out, coordinate or evaluate studies related to natural resources, the environmental implications of economic activities, and general action strategies that must allow for the achievement of more sustainable development. Their professional development must be directed towards research, advice, planning and management, both in the public and private sectors.

Requirement

Access to this degree does not require any additional tests other than those legally established at a national level.

At least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects (Grade C and above), and three A Levels (Grades A–E), with a minimum of 48 UCAS 2017 Tariff points.

Some Bachelors' Degree like French Studies are exempt from language accreditation to obtain the Graduate degree, as approved by the Governing Council of the University of Granada.

Structure

The curriculum for the Environmental Sciences degree is divided into 4 courses with a teaching load of 60 ECTS credits per course, divided into 30 credits per semester, which means a total load of 240 credits . The length of the subjects has been structured into 12, 6 and 3 credits, so that the combination of these allows the teaching load to be divided into modules of 30 semester credits, so that the Degree can be taken part-time.

Considering the compulsory nature of the Final Degree Project and the Basic Training subjects, the plan consists of 192 compulsory credits, which correspond to the skills and common structure agreed upon by all the Andalusian Universities that currently teach Environmental Sciences. This training will be completed with more specialized skills that will be taken in the optional subjects. For this purpose, 102 credits of optional subjects specific to the Degree are offered. Students will be able to take 42 credits within those proposed in the study plan or in any optional module of those offered in other Degrees at the University of Granada .
