Description

The Degree in Biochemistry allows those who take it to gain an in-depth understanding of living beings from the very beginning, understanding their molecular mechanisms and analysing the application of Chemistry and Physics to the study of cellular functions. Its aim is to train professionals with knowledge of all areas related to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in general and to biomedical or biotechnological activity in particular.

Requirement

At least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects (Grade C and above), and three A Levels (Grades A–E), with a minimum of 48 UCAS 2017 Tariff points.

Some Bachelors' Degree like French Studies are exempt from language accreditation to obtain the Graduate degree, as approved by the Governing Council of the University of Granada.

Structure

The Degree in Biochemistry comprises a total of 300 ECTS credits, of which students must complete 240 ECTS credits, and is structured into four academic years spread over eight semesters, each consisting of 30 ECTS credits.

The elective course is introduced from the third year (fifth semester), to allow the student to specialize with a greater degree of maturity.

Students have the option of choosing between two training or “intensifying” itineraries in scientific-professional areas, which correspond to two modules. One itinerary is called “Molecular Biomedicine” and the other is called “Biotechnology”, which will allow them to obtain, where appropriate, mentions.

The criteria that inform the choice of the elective are the following:

The student must complete 60 elective credits and may choose between:

complete the elective course without linking it to any itinerary, that is, take 60 credits of any elective course.

choose one of the two itineraries offered. In this case, if you have completed at least 42 credits linked to a itinerary, the specific mention will be included in the European Diploma Supplement.

For students studying abroad, the International Relations Committee will apply the criteria of validating subjects similar to those of the specialization paths, depending on which one has been chosen.

The final degree project, which is worth 12 credits, will consist of the development of an individual supervised project, aimed at assessing the skills associated with the degree in Biochemistry.
