The graduate in the degree in Spanish: Language and Literature will understand how to combine the spirit of innovation and advancement of knowledge with an academic and humanistic vocation which promotes reflection on the human condition in time and space, and will demonstrate the capacity to think clearly , imaginatively and critically.
The specific objectives of the Degree in Spanish: Language and Literature are:
To give general philological education, together with a specific understanding of the linguistic, literary and cultural aspects of Spanish language and literature.
To provide students with the tools necessary for studying and understanding of different aspects of the language from a linguistic and literary perspective, leading to the acquisition of the techniques and aptitudes required to apply the knowledge thus acquired to different fields and activities.
In conclusion, to train flexible professionals capable of teaching and research, in addition to possessing diverse skills related to the media, communication and information technologies, and the new roles contemporary society demands of language and literature.

All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of five (5) credits, in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC, NECO, SAT, KCSE, ZIMSEC, GCE).
In order to be admitted to these studies, new students must have a basic humanistic background, as well as a good disposition towards English linguistics, literature and culture, and for logical and critical reasoning. Prior knowledge of the English language equivalent to at least level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is essential.
