Description

It is an “institutional double degree program”, regulated by the Regulations on Double Degrees and Simultaneous Official Teachings of the USAL (Governing Council of 29/2/2012 and Permanent Commission of the Governing Council of 17/10/2017), it was approved by the Governing Council of the USAL on 03/22/2019 and is implemented in the 2019-20 academic year.

This double degree comes from the Degree in Tourism Management and the Degree in Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Management and functions as a specific study plan (with a specific pre-registration code and a specific number of places offered annually, 20), consisting of a total of 345 ECTS distributed over 5 academic years, 10 semesters, at a rate of 66 ECTS in the first year, 69 ECTS in the second year, 72 ECTS in the third year, 72 ECTS in the fourth year, and 66 ECTS in the fifth year.

Double Degree students will join the teaching groups of the respective Degrees. Timetable compatibility is generally guaranteed since each year the student takes subjects from only one of the centres. In this way, it will be the responsibility of each centre to ensure that the timetables of the subjects taught there are compatible.

When the student has to register for subjects from both degrees, mechanisms are put in place to guarantee time and assessment compatibility. These mechanisms will also be applicable to those coincidences resulting from second and subsequent registrations. Taking the above into account, the design that guarantees time compatibility is as follows:

a) Students enrolled in the Double Degree will be distributed among the groups of the Degree in SME Management based on the criteria established by the competent body.

b) In the Degree in Tourism Management there is a single group, except in those subjects that allow the splitting into practice groups. In these cases, students may choose a group by proving that they have a timetable that coincides with the subjects of the Degree in SME Management. In any case, the possibility of establishing, in the future, systems of assignment to groups remains open, if it is considered necessary.

c) The academic guide for the Double Degree specifically lists the timetables for groups with compatible schedules.

d) Inform students of the schedules for each course/semester and the possibilities they have for choosing a group and their responsibility for this if they choose groups with incompatible schedules that affect the face-to-face requirements established in either of the two Degrees.

Furthermore, compatibility is guaranteed in the evaluation calendar of the subjects in each of the semesters of the Double Degree:

When the scheduled exam date coincides for several subjects, the professor responsible for the lower-year subject will be obliged to modify the scheduled date for the evaluation of his or her subject for double degree students.

In the event of an incompatibility between subjects in the same course, the professors of the Degree in Tourism Management will be obliged to modify the date scheduled for the evaluation of their subjects.

In the event of a coincidence of assessment dates for the Final Degree Projects, the Evaluation Committee for the Degree in SME Management will be obliged to modify the date established for the oral presentation and defence.

Students who wish to study at a foreign university through an academic exchange must link their mobility to one of the Degrees that make up this institutional programme. This choice will determine the academic year, the subjects and the number of credits that can be requested as recognition of the subjects that have been passed at the host university. This procedure is regulated by the Complementary Regulations to the General Regulations on International Student Mobility of the Faculty to which the mobility is linked.

The administrative management of the Double Degree will be the responsibility of the Ávila University School of Education and Tourism: registration (at the center or self-enrollment), recognition of ECTS, supporting documentation for registration exemptions (e.g. scholarships, large families). However, the administrative procedures linked to a single Degree, such as, for example, the request for group changes, the request and issuance of academic certificates and degrees, the management of grade reports, the procedures related to TFGs and external internships or student mobility, will be carried out at the Center responsible for the Degree in Tourism Management or the Degree in SME Management.

In the admission process, the weighting criteria for high school subjects for the University Entrance Exams will be applied, which will be specific to this double degree.

In any case, this maximum limit and other rights affecting enrolment will be determined by the USAL Regulations on Permanence and the Regulations on Double Degrees and Simultaneity.

Students of the Double Degree may register for the two Final Degree Projects included in the study plan when they have to pass a maximum of 90 credits of the 345 credits that make up the double degree. The average grade of the record will be calculated from the record of all the subjects of both degrees taken by the student up to that point. The request for the Final Degree Project and tutor will be made in accordance with the regulations and administrative procedures established in the TFG regulations of each degree.

Enrollment in the mandatory internships that Double Degree students must complete in the second semester of the fifth year will be subject to the regulations and administrative procedures established for the degree in which they decide to enroll in the subject.
