Because of the interactions between all these different elements, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining the built environment becomes an increasingly difficult task requiring advanced intelligent computing methods. The Civil Systems Engineering master’s program is a research-focused educational program formulated as a response to these challenges. Students will learn advanced techniques to model complex systems to support all aspects of their agile and informed design and engineering. 

Requirement

  1. Hold a first university degree in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  2. Provide proof of English proficiency at level C1 according to CEFR or equivalent. Knowledge of German is beneficial but not mandatory.
  3. Submit two academic letters of reference and a motivation letter (max 2 pages).
  4. Possess a previous academic record, including scientific publications.
  5. High School Certificate.
  6. International Passport.
  7. Photo.

Structure

The Civil Systems Engineering master’s program at TU Berlin spans four semesters and includes compulsory, elective, and elective modules, along with a master’s thesis.

The program focuses on preparing civil systems engineers to handle the increasing complexity of the built environment. The first year covers basic concepts in civil systems modeling, followed by advanced elective modules. In the second year, students choose from elective modules and undertake independent research before completing their master’s thesis.

Fees

TU Berlin semester/student fee - the fee is around € 310  and includes public transport in Berlin. The fees do not include such expenses as books, the compulsory German language course (approx. € 100 per semester), stationery, meals, healthcare insurance, visa and accommodation. In case that a field trip should be taking place during the second semester, this will require an own share of a maximum € 200 per student.
