Description
The equipment custodian is a social and health care
professional who works as a member of a multi-professional work group with
various clients.
Those who have completed the instrument maintenance degree can
- clean, disinfect, pack and sterilize research and treatment equipment
- plan and implement their work in accordance with the aseptic work order,
cleanliness and order, and hygiene requirements.
- use a manual or digital ERP system.
Part of the teaching can take place via Teams. The studies also include
independent and online study. Learning in working life is possibly shift
work.

Structure
The basic degree in the field of equipment maintenance consists of professional degree parts (145 competence points) and joint degree parts (35 competence points). The scope of the vocational basic qualification is 180 competence points.
The basic degree in equipment maintenance includes three mandatory parts of the degree: Cleaning and disinfection of equipment in infection control work, Working in the packaging process of equipment and Sterilization as part of infection control. The scope of the compulsory degree components is a total of 115 competence points.
The degree includes optionality to the extent of 30 competence points. Optionally, skills can be deepened in sector-specific equipment maintenance or in the use of a digital enterprise resource planning system and quality control. Through optionality, the skills can also be expanded to healthcare logistic services or to cover, in addition to the traditional equipment maintenance operating environment, equipment maintenance work carried out in various social and healthcare operating units, research institutes, clinical service units, industry, oral healthcare or animal care operating environments.
The degree title of the basic degree in equipment maintenance is equipment maintenance.
