Program Overview

The Advanced Mechanical Engineering (AME) MSc course is the only MSc course offered by the Mechanical Engineering Department and is a well-established course with more than 30 years of history. It is intended as a prestigious and deliberately small course (40 highly selected students).

The Mechanical Engineering Department has more than 100 staff, 200 PhD students and more than 500 undergraduate students and is one of the largest mechanical engineering departments in Europe. The department hosts 10 industry-sponsored Centres of Excellence. The department was ranked 10th in the World by both the 2022 QS World University rankings and the 2023 Times Higher Education World university rankings. As an important group within the department the AME students share the large amount of research and teaching facilities of the department.

As an essential part (50%) of the AME course you will choose a research project which will be carried out within one of the many research groups in the department, some of which are listed below:
