Frequently asked questions

Students starting Romance Studies, Slavic languages, Transcultural Communication, or the teaching subjects Bosnian/Croat/Serbian, French, Italian, Russian, Slovenian and Spanish, must provide one-time evidence demonstrating they meet the language level required. Language courses are offered by treffpunkt sprachen to those students who do not reach the required level or who already know that they require better preparation before the examination.

Students in English Studies / American Studies, or in the teaching subject English, must complete a computer-based language grading test (target B2) at the start of the study programme. They must pass this in order to progress in the study programme.

Anyone interested in programmes subject to specific access requirements must register for the admission process using the application tool. Note: this step does not mean that a student is actually enrolled in the study programme! Prospective international students must also pre-register online and apply.

An admission process is required before enrolment for some courses at the University of Graz. This process includes registering in the application tool on time, paying a contribution towards the costs of each study programme, and in most cases, completing an online self-assessment. An admission examination may also be required at the secondary stage. Each admission process takes place just once per academic year, and a secondary school leaving examination will not be required to participate. It is then possible to enrol for a study programme in the winter or summer semester with a study placement as well as with the general higher education qualification exam. Prospective international students must also submit an application for allocation of a study placement.
