Description

Optometry is responsible for primary care of visual health, through prevention, diagnosis, treatment and correction of refractive, accommodative, muscular and binocular defects. The specialist in fitting glasses, spectacles, rigid or soft contact lenses using special techniques, treating binocular anomalies associated with the use of prolonged near vision, as well as indicating and supervising visual therapy, is called an optometrist.


Optics is the branch of Physics that studies the behavior of light, its characteristics and its manifestations. It covers the study of propagation, reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction, image formation and the interaction of light with matter.


In summary, this degree studies vision as the ability to process information from the environment, obtain meaning and understand what is seen through the eyes.

Requirement

Access to this degree does not require any additional tests other than those legally established at a national level.


At least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects (Grade C and above), and three A Levels (Grades A–E), with a minimum of 48 UCAS 2017 Tariff points.

Some Bachelors' Degree like French Studies are exempt from language accreditation to obtain the Graduate degree, as approved by the Governing Council of the University of Granada.
