Description
Bachelor’s degree programme teaches the new generation of experts to apply multidisciplinary expertise to help address these challenges and develop the sustainable cities of the future.
About the Admistrave Science Track
The Sustainable Urban Development programme provides integrated, multidisciplinary teaching related to urban development and sustainability. It consists of three streams - Administrative Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology – which students select when applying.
Students in the administrative sciences stream study basic and intermediate studies in administrative sciences, developing a broad theoretical understanding of societal change, and applying this understanding to develop solutions to challenges of governance and sustainable urban development. Shared courses with students from other streams help you understand urban development from several perspectives, develop interdisciplinary thinking skills, and identify novel and constructive ways of solving complex problems.
Urban Labs
Through challenge-based Urban Lab courses, students are engaged in real-life urban development projects in collaboration with organizations such as the City of Tampere. These courses provide students an opportunity to work in teams to help solve real-world development challenges, while engaging with urban planners, citizens, and local organisations.
Opportunities
This programme aims to meet the societal, administrative and concrete need for more societal and environmental problem solvers. All students in the administrative track have a study right to continue their studies in the Master’s Programme in Leadership for Change – Governance for Sustainable Change.
