Tampere University is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. We bring together research and education in technology, health and society. The University is known for its excellence in teaching and research and it collaborates with hundreds of universities and organisations worldwide. Our community consists of about 22,500 students and around 4,200 staff members from more than 80 countries.

The University was created in 2019 through a merger between the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. Almost all internationally recognised fields of study are represented in our university.

Frequently asked questions

Unfortunately all Tampere University scholarships available on admission have been awarded at the same time with the admissions decision and information on scholarships has been sent to applicants together with the letter of acceptance. There is no waiting list for the scholarships, and it is not possible to appeal the scholarship decision. All fee-paying applicants are, however, eligible for the early bird offer. Detailed instructions on the early bird have been sent to students in the acceptance email. For information on which scholarships are available after the first year of studies, please see Scholarships for fee-paying students.

As a first year student, you have a right to a full refund (excluding any bank charges) of a tuition fee paid to Tampere University if: you have been admitted conditionally but do not fulfill conditional acceptance requirements on time and your study place is cancelled, you are not granted a residence permit in Finland and therefore cannot start your studies, your residence permit status changes before 31 July and you are no longer liable to pay fees (in such case the new Finnish residence permit card must be presented as proof before 31 July), you are unable to start your studies due to long-term illness or parental leave

Yes. If you are unable to begin your studies this year, you may join us next year with the scholarship as long as you have accepted the study place offer and scholarship as well as fulfilled all conditions (if applicable) by the deadline specified in your admission letter. You will receive further instructions at the end of July concerning deferment.

If you apply for accommodation from student housing provider TOAS, please apply accommodation immediately when the application period starts. The application period for furnished rooms for Autumn semester 2024 will be opened on the TOAS web site on May 6th at 9:00 (UTC+3:00).
