Career Opportunities:
Graduates of the Automotive Engineering program at TU Berlin are prepared to pursue a consecutive master’s program and become teachers of the subject at vocational schools. Additionally, they can seek employment in vocational training and continuing education institutions.
Content and Modules
The program covers topics such as rail vehicle and automotive engineering, vehicle engines, automotive electronics, and teaching methodology. You will have the opportunity to specialize in a chosen area and gain practical experience through a professional development internship.
Acquired Skills
Combining technical education with educational science modules, you will develop skills in professional teaching, learning processes observation, and analysis. You will be equipped to work independently, think critically, and engage responsibly in vocational education environments.
Requirement
- University entrance qualification certificate
- Proof of certain professional qualifications if lacking formal university entrance qualification
- German language proficiency at a specific level for applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate
- International passport

Basic knowledge in engineering, mathematics, and physics is recommended. Previous exposure to these subjects will facilitate the transition into the program.
Structure
The Automotive Engineering program at TU Berlin consists of technical and teacher training components:
- Core Subject: 90 LP (including a 10 LP bachelor’s thesis)
- Secondary Subject: 60 LP
- Teacher Training: 30 LP, including 11 LP in education, 7 LP in subject-specific teaching methodology, 7 LP in teaching methodology in the secondary subject, and 5 LP in German as a second language/language acquisition
A proposed course schedule is available to guide students through the six-semester program.
Fees
TU Berlin semester/student fee - the fee is around € 310 and includes public transport in Berlin. The fees do not include such expenses as books, the compulsory German language course (approx. € 100 per semester), stationery, meals, healthcare insurance, visa and accommodation. In case that a field trip should be taking place during the second semester, this will require an own share of a maximum € 200 per student.
Service fee 50 Euro
