The Degree in French Studies aims to develop in the student the knowledge, understanding and interest in the language, literature and culture of French-speaking countries, promoting and developing interdisciplinarity, multilingualism and the ability to establish links between French and Spanish cultures, which results in the concept of interculturality.

Description

The Bachelor's Degree in French Studies aims to offer students a solid training in French literature and language, providing them with the knowledge, tools and means that allow them to interpret and analyse a variety of intellectual and cultural practices (literature, print and audiovisual press, cinema, theatre, etc.), as well as to develop their skills in the areas of argumentation, written expression and oral presentation, sensitivity to the socio-historical dimension of cultural manifestations, conceptualisation, and an analytical and critical spirit.

Requirement

At least five GCSE/IGCSE subjects (Grade C and above), and three A Levels (Grades A–E), with a minimum of 48 UCAS 2017 Tariff points.

The Bachelor's Degree in French Studies are exempt from language accreditation to obtain the Graduate degree, as approved by the Governing Council of the University of Granada.

Combining the development of heuristic skills (knowing how to learn) with the consolidation of communicative competence, the aim of the Degree in French Studies is, ultimately, to offer students a solid education that provides them with the knowledge, tools and means that will allow them to interpret and analyse the multiplicity of discursive practices and intellectual and cultural manifestations around the French language, developing their analytical and critical spirit and preparing them both for labour insertion and for continuing postgraduate studies.
