Requirement

  1. High school certificate
  2. If you do not have a formal university entrance qualification, you may still be able to study at TU Berlin if you can provide proof of certain professional qualifications.
  3. The Information Technology bachelor’s program is taught in German. If you are applying with a foreign school-leaving certificate, you must provide proof of German skills at a specific level. This is a prerequisite for admission. In some exceptions, courses may be offered in English, and a knowledge of English is, therefore, useful. However, it is not a condition for admission to studies.

Basic knowledge of mathematics and an interest in pedagogical and technical issues are recommended for a smooth transition into the program.

Structure

The Information Technology program at TU Berlin comprises technical and teacher training components:

- 90 LP in the core subject (including the bachelor’s thesis valued at 10 LP)

- 60 LP in a secondary subject at TU, HU, or FU Berlin

- 30 LP teacher training, further divided into:

  1. 11 LP education
  2. 7 LP subject-specific teaching methodology in the core subject
  3. 7 LP teaching methodology in the secondary subject
  4. 5 LP German as a second language/language acquisition

Fees

TU Berlin semester/student fee - the fee is around € 310  and includes public transport in Berlin. The fees do not include such expenses as books, the compulsory German language course (approx. € 100 per semester), stationery, meals, healthcare insurance, visa and accommodation. In case that a field trip should be taking place during the second semester, this will require an own share of a maximum € 200 per student.
