Description

The University of Barcelona is a public research university located in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was established in 1450. With 76,000 students, it is one of the biggest universities in Spain and has also been ranked 1st in the country in most of the 2024 rankings.

It has 106 departments and more than 5,000 full-time researchers, technicians and research assistants, most of whom work in the 243 research groups as recognized and supported by the Government of Catalonia. In 2010, the UB was awarded 175 national research grants and 17 European grants and participated in over 500 joint research projects with the business sector, generating an overall research income of 70 million euros.

The UB offers 74 undergraduate programs, 349 graduate programs and 48 doctorate programs to 63,000 students.It also has 30 research centers.

Thanks to our extensive course offering we teach more than 60,000 students each year. We have a team of almost 6,400 teachers and researchers who, together with some 2,600 administrative and service staff, accompany you through the different stages of your university studies. We have own and affiliated halls of residence, as well as a own university residence. Apart from housing, you can experience personal and collective growth.

The UB requires to have a B1 as the minimum level necessary of knowledge in at least one of the three languages (Catalan, Spanish or English), depending on the teaching language of the chosen courses.

The following documents should be sent to the Manager of International Mobility in which you intend to study within the deadline: One copy of your online application form for admission duly completed and signed by your tutor at your home university. Check the Academic Information section before filling in the online form. A copy of the IdCard with your personal data. Transcript of Records. Certificate of language proficiency (check the "Language requirements" section). Additional documents requested by the Hosting Faculty.

The cost of living in Barcelona depends largely on your lifestyle choice. However, you need to bear in mind that a graduate student needs around €800-900/month for food, accommodation, travel and other expenses.
