Description
Data science in Economics at Lazarski University is a unique study programme tailored for AI revolution. Most Bachelor level Data Science courses offered in Poland are very technical and omit modern approaches to working with data, including machine learning and state-of-the-art tools like Python and R, which are must-have languages in Data Science.
Our unique programme is a great opportunity for people who do not plan to become theoretical computer scientists, but rather want to use analytical and programming skills when working in finance and economics.
Data science in Economics programme does not require any prior knowledge or experience in probability, statistics, or computer science. The course is structured to balance theoretical studies with practical work, including training in at least two programming languages and real-world examples of theoretical concepts.
The first year aims to provide a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and computing for all students, while also building upon the knowledge of those who have been previously exposed to these areas. This prepares students for specialisation in data science and economics during the second and third year of studies.
The second year expands on this foundation through mandatory modules on core topics in data science and economics. The economical perspective provides a platform to learn about practical applications of data science.
In the final year, students have the flexibility to tailor their programme towards the more statistical or economical aspects of the subject.
We know that students struggle not only with the material they must cover, but also with how to approach problems, plan work, study effectively, or find passion and stay creative. Therefore, we have incorporated courses such as Psychology and Effective Studying Techniques, as well as Arts and Creativity, as part of our first year to help students stay focused, dedicated and creative during their studies.
During the studies, students have the ability to earn an IBM Data Science Professional Certificate* and a Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate*, as well as free access to approximately 98% of the courses and specialisations on the Coursera platform.
We are looking for people who:
- Like to solve riddles and analytical problems
- Believe that making decisions should be based on data
- Are open to learn mathematics and programming – students do not have to be huge fans or experts in these fields. We know that teachers often discourage students to explore analytical world. We will show the future students how useful it can be.
