The Cook program at VAMIA offers a comprehensive education in restaurant and catering services. Study at the modern Hansa campus with practical experience at Restaurant Silveria. On-the-job learning in Vaasa or other locations is a key part of the program. This qualification sets a solid foundation for further studies or career advancement in the industry.

Requirement
General requirements in Finland (Vocational Education Act 531/2017)
Equal grounds shall be applied in student admissions.
VET providers decide on the criteria for their student admissions and on entrance examinations and aptitude tests.

- Your Duolingo English Test Result (85 points minimum)
N.B - All applicants must have completed the Duolingo English Test. The test score is submitted with the application. Please note that the test must be valid at the time of applying. English language proficiency is mandatory, and no other tests are accepted as proof of language skills.

The Cook program at VAMIA includes full-time studies and on-the-job learning periods. Classes are held during the daytime (Monday-Friday) with a duration of approximately 3 years.
The third year focuses mainly on practical on-the-job learning experiences.
How is the education arranged?
The qualification includes full-time studying as well as practical training periods. The classes are held during the daytime (Monday-Friday). The duration of studies is approximately 3 years. On-the-job learning takes place in the second and third year spring.
In Vamia we have four study periods (nine weeks each) per school year. The classes are held during daytime from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm. As a student you can check your schedule from the mobile app of Studenta. The schedule will change after each period.
The school is closed for holidays (autumn holiday, Christmas holiday, winter holiday and summer holiday).
The duration of studies is approximately 3 years. The qualification includes full-time studying as well as workplace education and training periods. Third year includes mainly workplace education and learning.
Fees
Cooking shoe- The cost for the shoes is about 40-50€
Due to the lack of tuition fees, we also do not have separate scholarships available.
