Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Statistics began to be taught at USAL in 2009-2010 (Plan 2009), once the verification process was passed (by the social sciences branch), it replaced the Diploma in Statistics and renewed its accreditation in 2015. A new study plan (Plan 2016) was verified by the science branch, was implemented in the 2016-17 academic year and has renewed its accreditation in 2022.

This degree provides training that enables students to obtain, classify and analyse data from a wide variety of disciplines and contexts, from Basic Sciences and Health Sciences to Social Sciences and Law; also to determine and apply the most appropriate computer treatment for each type of study; and to extract, present and communicate, in the most appropriate way according to the type of work, the conclusions and proposed solutions based on the results obtained, so that they are accepted by those responsible for making decisions.

For the above reasons and due to the level of specialization of the different itineraries offered by the degree, graduates will find it easier to insert themselves into multidisciplinary teams in companies, industries, hospitals, consultancies and research groups of all kinds.

Requirement

To enroll in this Degree, there are no special conditions or tests other than the general ones established by the basic state regulations.

Specific procedure for graduates of the previous ordination

A graduate in Statistics who wishes to enroll in the Bachelor's Degree in Statistics at the University of Salamanca must apply for admission by means of an application to the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, attaching the supporting documentation of the degree of origin. Although it is not initially planned, in the event that excessive demand makes a selection process necessary, this would be carried out using the record of the degree of origin as a benchmark. More information at the Faculty of Sciences .

Students with partial official university studies who wish to be admitted to this degree must consult the requirements in the “Transfer of records” section of the Academic Guide for the degree on this website.

The Bachelor's Degree in Statistics is designed to accommodate students with the ability to adapt to work in different disciplines, as well as to analyze and synthesize information and solve problems, in addition to the essential work habit, dedication to study and a taste for Statistical Techniques.

In line with the above, the degree is recommended for people who have completed high school by taking the subjects of Applied Mathematics for Social Sciences or Mathematics II, as both should provide a basis (statistics the first, mathematics the second) that could be useful for tackling the Degree in Statistics. It would also be desirable for the student to have chosen the Degree in Statistics as their first option when pre-registering at the University of Salamanca.

It is recommended to take the Zero Mathematics Course that the Faculty of Sciences offers each year at the beginning of September, as it could help to better tackle the basic subjects of this subject.
